Embankment make-safe works at Potts Point, including crane lifted machine access to remove a partially collapsed sandstone wall and removal of Sydney Water asset.
Noble Works Australia was engaged by Trescon to undertake a make safe of a collapsing embankment at Wylde Street in Potts Point. The full scope was completed in approximately two weeks in November 2025.
The biggest challenge was a partially collapsed sandstone wall requiring careful removal in a tight inner city environment. With direct machinery access restricted, NWA, Trescon and Action Cranes coordinated a 100-tonne crane to lift a 3.5 and 5 Tonne excavator up to the crib wall. This was supported by a full crane study and engineer-approved bearing assessment for the area. Works were then carried out using the excavator and man basket to safely dismantle the wall in accordance with Acroyali Engineering’s make-safe methodology.
Alongside the structural works, NWA removed a 11 tonne redundant sewer pit, cleared concrete from the footpath, stripped green waste including vines and palm branches, and stockpiled site-won material for batter formation. Sediment controls were in place throughout and the site was handed back safe and clear on completion.
